Oldharbor

Demographics

Seafolk are the majority (Merfolk, Cecaelia, etc), followed closely by humans, elves, half-elves, and half-orcs. A very small number of the population are of other races and species; orcs and minotaurs can be found in a few pirate crews. Centaurs and trolls live and labor at the slaughter docks, the rickety wooden walkways of the upper city unable to support their weight. On rare occasions, the monstrous humanoids of Yokaishin can be found carousing local taverns, but they are usually part of trade envoys dealing with the merchants of the Upper Decks.

Government

Three factions hold an uneasy truce to maintain some semblance of order within the city.

Defences

The walls surrounding the city’s “Upper Deck” are lined with massive siege cannons, and the many pirate crews that call the city home act as a form of impromptu militia.

Industry & Trade

Oldharbor makes its money one of two ways; piracy and “fishing,” which is actually hunting sea monsters. Between voyages, those who aren’t busy getting drunk run shops and inns, and prostitution is a lucrative business as well.

Infrastructure

A few windmills sit farther inland. The city maintains some form of sewer system, though few know how it works. Wooden paths and rope bridges run between the city’s shipwreck buildings, and numerous seawater-filled transport tubes line the city for the seafolk to get around.

Guilds and Factions

The three main factions of Oldharbor are The Black Skull Buccaneers, the crew of the Singing Siren, and the San Cuencena Trading Company, which owns and operates out of the Upper Decks.

Architecture

The buildings of Oldharbor are made from the wood of wrecked ships.

Geography

The specific island on which Oldharbor is located is mountainous, the city itself being built up the side of a mountain and sinking directly into the ocean. As such, this city-state is fairly well hidden from the rest of the Silver Isles.

Natural Resources

Wood for new ships is brought in from the far side of the island, and meat from various sea monsters is never in short supply.
