Mūrari and the Spirit of Generosity

It was said that a generous spirit had once visited the desert and, in a single day, created a miraculous oasis out of the droughts and the barrenness that surrounded it. The waters ran clear and were full of life, and the fertile land held a variety of plants and trees that were both beautiful and useful. But what was most remarkable about this oasis was its generous spirit.   Rumor had it that every stranger who found their way to the oasis was welcomed with open arms, nourished with delicious food and granted with whatever they may need in order to continue their journey. This spirit was said to have been so benevolent that even the animals of the oasis appeared to have been blessed with some sort of special gift, the power of understanding and communication. Thus, they seemed to understand the needs and requests of the humans, and they would help them on their way if necessary.   Mūrari had seen firsthand the ravages of the desert; it was a barren, dreary land, full of loneliness and despair. She had been walking for days in search of respite, but the sun was relentless and her throat was parched. She was close to giving up when she saw it: a magnificent oasis, a haven of respite and sustenance. Her heart leapt with joy and she forgot all her discomfort in an instant.   She marveled at the lush vegetation, the crystal clear waters, and the animals that grazed peacefully. As she grew nearer, she noticed something else: a figure, majestic and proud, standing in the center of it all. Its serene features and gentle aura inspired confidence and trust in her. She was sure this was the spirit of the oasis, the generous being who had bestowed life, sustenance, and hospitality upon the desert.   She thanked the figure for its gifts and begged for it to reveal its identity. The figure smiled and replied with a gentle voice, "I am the spirit of generosity, here to provide for those in need. I have been in this desert for many years, and I will remain until my work is done. You, my child, have been a witness to my giving, and I thank you for it."   Upon realizing the figure's purpose, Mūrari bowed her head in respect and thanked the spirit for its gifts. She continued on her journey, but with a newfound hope and confidence, knowing that kindness could be found even in the darkest of places.   To this day, travelers in the desert will pray: "Spirit of Generosity, I will forever be thankful for your gifts and for your message of hope. Let us continue our journey and spread the hope of generosity to every corner of the world, as you have done for the desert."   #WorldEmberMyth
