Timestone

Description

The simplest time stones consist of a small stone with a hole drilled in the middle into which a zauride is set using iron and an opaque pouch matching their size. Due to their size, they can be carried in a trouser pocket. If you are prepared to spend more money, you can use larger and rarer stones and have them elaborately decorated.
One of the most expensive time stones consists of a large, black stone with a zaurid whose setting is made of gold and gracefully curves around the entire stone. It is also decorated with diamonds.

Effects

The zaurid stores light and gives it up again. A spell ensures that it can only absorb enough light to last half a day. The spell also ensures that the crystal begins to glow in color when it is fully charged. As soon as it starts to lose its charge, the color disappears and it only glows white.

Usage

Time stones are used by all those who work in the dark caves or explore them so that they do not lose their sense of time. The stone is carried in a pouch that shrouds it in complete darkness so that it loses its charge. When a person looks at it, they can tell how much time has passed by its luminosity.
As the zaurid also needs half a day to recharge, it is also suitable for longer expeditions. As soon as the time stone has gone dark, it is immediately placed near a light source. If the rhythm is maintained, it emits light for half a day and absorbs light for half a day. This allows a day and night rhythm to develop.
