Druids Curse
Transmission & Vectors
Mostly bites from ticks or fleas but the disease can be transmitted by direct contact with infected tissue or exposure to the cough of another
Causes
Fleas infected with the Druid's curse are mostly found in or around swamps. However once latched to an small animal such as rats and squirrels, they can be carried into towns.
Symptoms
Symptoms start 6 days after a creature is infected, developing fever, nausea, and photo-phobia. On day 7, lymph nodes on the neck and the bubonic area get swollen and start bleeding.
Treatment
Spells that remove disease, such as a Paladin's Lay on hands ability or the cure disease spell will not cure the Druids curse. They will only serve as a break to the symptoms progression.
Doctors have noticed that victims of the disease that spend time in swamps live relatively longer, even a few weeks more than the norm. There have been some documented cases of people being cured after removing the swollen lymph nodes on the neck. This of course is a risky medical procedure and only a few experienced doctors have managed to save their patients.
A very rare herb known as Sparkleaf can cure the symptoms of the disease if brewed and consumed as a tea.
Prognosis
Most people die from severe bleeding in two or three days
