Elsewhere is a place marked by fear. From best understanding, Elsewhere is the only place in Esterel where the magical protection of Voloris cannot reach. Because of this, entrance is strictly prohibited, as many fear what the wrong person might bring out of its swamp. Stories of what exactly is in Elsewhere varies greatly and so many stories have been made about Elsewhere contents, that it is hard to parse fact from fiction. Its reputation has led it to becoming a common curse, wishing that one's enemies would go "Elsewhere".
Fortunately, what resides in Elsewhere appears to stay there, as Voloris' field although ineffective at clearing out the area, prevents it abominations from ever leaving. For a time, Elsewhere was used as place to punish the world's worst criminals; however, Voloris disallowed this soon after it became a practice.
Test of the Highguard
Because of Elsewhere's ability to repel Voloris' antipathy field, it is commonly used as a supervised training ground for Voloris' high and experienced low guards. Typically, they are not allowed to go very deep into Elsewhere's inner territory, but it's understood before a lowguard can enter the ranks of the highguard, they must pass a test involving a deeper section of the forbidden land.
