Aznecalli

Aznecalli are intelligent and vicious predators found exclusively in jungle biomes. While there are ancient depictions of them in other areas that may have once been jungle-like, the only remaining known Aznecalli hunt in the jungles of southeastern Estia in the nation of Senzysion.   Aznecalli are hard to kill, being more likely to abandon their hunt, prey or territory if they perceive a credible threat. The only exception to this behavior seems to be in defense of cubs, but woe to the unlucky one who stumbles into that situation. These massive cats are naturally black in color, but have the ability to change the color of their fur to camoflauge themselves into their surroundings making them exceedingly difficult to spot. In addition to sharp teeth and venomous claws, Aznecalli also have 4-6 tails, each tipped with a venomous barb that they use to stun and poison their prey.   But what makes Aznecalli's so fearsome is their habit, like many other cats, to play with their food. Being the prey of an Aznecalli means an agonizing death, taking several days, suffering many venemous injections, being thrown around and chased in a wounded state. The tortured souls of the few who have managed to survive have spoken the fear of all things unholy when they describe their horrific encounters.   Some ancient carvings suggest Aznecalli were once tamable enough to be pets and steeds to the rulers of ancient jungle tribes.   The Aznecalli have not been often observed, so things like their mating rituals or social structures have never been witnessed. However there are rare sightings of Aznecalli mothers with 1-2 cubs. For some reason, cubs to do not appear to know how to camoflauge themselves and so a mother Aznecalli will fight fiercely in their defense, or wrap herself around them and camoflauge if the danger hasn't presented itself yet.
