Ice Wardens

The Ice Wardens are an order mages, bound to the protection of the peoples of Koljorn. They originate from a mountain fortress in the east of Koljorn known as the Anfromol. They were founded by a coalition of Frësian tribes looking to create a more organized means of protecting Koljorn from potential dangers both foreign and within the land. They keep the monsters that roam the tundra in check, and traveling the coasts with their sled dogs, picking up recruits. A band of Ice Wardens containing 10-15 members will set off once every few months, spending 6-9 months on patrol before returning to Anfromol and at any given time there are a half dozen bands of Ice Wardens patrolling.

Ice Wardens enforce the Laws of the Tribes of Koljorn, which do not change often as the council of tribes only meets once every hundred or so years. Generally speaking these are rules that all tribes agree on. While the Laws are outlined by the tribes, the justice carried out by the Ice Wardens are entirely up to them and they have been known to be quite harsh with punishments.

Posts to the Ice Wardens are for life, an oath is taken and a member is taught the magic craft of the Ice. While different members may take on slightly different roles, generally all are taught a powerful set of spells. Conflict with any Ice Warden can be incredibly dangerous and since they are rarely alone they are a force to be reckoned with.
