Thiedothû (θaɪ̯doθʊ)
Thiedothû come in many varieties, but generally share a handful of characteristics. They almost always have vibrantly multicolored scales, large colorful eyes, some form of spikes, nubs or feathers and long, frog-like tongues. Thiedothû come in shapes ranging from pudgy frogs to slim lizards. There is a strong and opinionated culture around breeding and showing Thiedothû for ever more vibrant colors and patterns, and Thiedies from the top breeders fetch an incredibly high price.
Thiedies primarily eat insects and small rodents, making them incredibly helpful pets. They are staples of most bakeries and eateries because they keep after the pests. However the scents from most flowers make them act silly and drunk and they will go crazy for honey.
In the wild, Thiedothû live in burrows in groups up to two dozen, at least a third of which are juveniles. They are primarily nocturnal and utilize their large eyes to see at night and hunt nocturnal insects and rodents along the jungle floor. The vibrantly colored scales may seem counterproductive, but in the jungle it works to their favor as they scurry around the jungle floor. Their spikes, nubs and feathers act as deterrents for Thiedothû's main predators, mid-sized carnivorous dinosaurs and various birds of prey.
