Drakon

Basic Information

Anatomy

Being a hybrid which draws upon Human genetics, Drakon typically have a Human physical form. Certain family lines may gravitate toward one of the families of true dragons, and as such will demonstrate physical features reminiscent of that family (e.g.: imperial "antler" horns, chromatic & metallic scales).

Biological Traits

Certain bloodlines will trend toward one family of true dragons, such as the Metallic, Chromatic or Imperial. These families will develop traits in line with that dragon family, though there will still be some muddling between specific dragon species. One family may grow the antler-like horns of a Sovereign dragon, but their scales will be more akin to an Underworld dragon's.

Genetics and Reproduction

Much like their dragon ancestors, Drakon can reproduce with a wide variety of partners. So long as a Drakon's partner has matching genitalia, there is a chance for viable young to be produced. The nature of birth will depend on the specie of the mother, as some will give live birth and others will lay eggs. While it may be unusual for a reptilian Drakon to be born, it is not impossible. Gestation period will depend entirely upon the nature of the mother, however this part will be typical of her species.

Growth Rate & Stages

Aging occurs at a rate similar to Humans, though slightly delayed until reaching Adulthood at roughly 20 years. Once having reached adulthood, they can live upward of 850 years

Ecology and Habitats

Drakon are not especially suited to any one environment, but certain environments can encourage those who dwell there to develop certain draconic bloodlines. Additionally, certain Human social groups in which a clan of Drakon lives will produce a greater number of certain bloodlines. The precise reason for this is not entirely understood.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Largely omnivorous, and able to digest nearly any organic matter, precise dietary habits will vary based upon social and environmental factors. Farming, however, is not a common profession or skill among isolated Drakon clans. As such, many will live primarily upon hunting and foraging for their food supply.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Prone to growing symmetrical sets of bony spikes from the brow ridge, along the hairline and occasionally connected to the ears. Facial hair growth is often limited in comparison to that of humans, mainly comprising the area around the mouth and the chin. Jawline facial hair is uncommon at best. Hair will occasionally take on a lustrous metallic sheen, or a solid color, related to one of the common dragon species. Eye color will be within the normal range for their human ancestry, but will glow golden in low-light situations.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Drakon have strong visual capabilities, providing them with monochrome vision when light is unavailable and can see clearly at twice the distance of a Human in low-light environments.

Lifespan

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Skin color will trend toward that of the human population with which the Drakon shares ancestry, however a pattern of exceedingly fine scales will be developed. These scales typically don't maintain one unified shade, but will change periodically as new scales grow. Body hair is often in line with their human ancestry, but almost never do they appear hirsute.
