A fateful meeting

Was a born to a dead world, nothing living save him. There were few can of food left by some unknown civilization. He survived on those for 16 years. For entertainment he read the parts of the scattered books that were left under the light of the flowing magma. This was a cold world save for the magma, and dark save for its light and the moon, no sun ever shone. At the age of 10 he started hearing a voice. This voice came only once a month and spoke very softly. As the years went on from 10 to 16 he heard the voice more frequently and louder. At the age 16 two months before his birthday he heard the voice speak saying "Do you want to leave this place". He was stunned but after a moment accepted whole heartily. So on his 17th birthday he woke up and found a wrapped gift. Upon opening the gift he found a map a compass a backpack and a stop watch. Inside the pack was a change of clothes and some water for a simple shower. Upon cleaning himself and getting into his new outfit he opens the map. Staring him back is a black surface with only a slight sheen. The compass also didn't move at all. But the watch was different it was spinning. He reaches out a hand and touches the glass surface of the watch. The next thing he knows he somewhere else. He finds himself in a room with a table full of food, And a girl sitting at the end of the table. She then asks him to take a seat and have some food. He a little shy and slowly does, but soon is scarfing down food. When he stops the girl asks him. "So how does it taste". He replies with a grin that it’s the best food he's ever had. She then askes "Would you be willing to do something for me". The boy replied "Will I get to keep eating this kind of food, and talking to you". She smiles and says "Il take that as a yes". From that day forth Evan was taken in by that girl and taught reading and writing, art and geography, math and socials. He became a master of all these subjects in excellent time. At the end of his education He was 38 Years old. Throughout the years he has been faithfully working for that same girl he met. One day he was called in person to receive a mission. Frost (the name of the girl he met long ago) Meet him in the same room with the table she first met him in. The boy is now many years old and has learned a great deal since he was taken off his dead world, and has a respect and admiration for the girl that saved him and has been with him for all these years, as his one true friend. His mission is to save just one person, from an assassination. Evan is tasked to protecting the Heir to a kingdom and take her somewhere safe. This may be the final mission he receives from Ms. Frost, as it is also one of the most dangerous. Normally when the boy hers of assassination they happen to high ranking or important people who have a lot of security with them already. But if Ms. Frost is sending him there must be something special about this person. Thinking about it he also realizes he was told the assassination is going to happen not has, a very unique mission this will be and a very dangerous one. And so he sets off down the hall to use the oh so familiar door to lead him to the capital of the kingdom and just down the hall from the Heir he is to protect.
