The eyeless owl is a species that can be found in the fogswept forests. Its call echoes the sounds of what it hears around it, a strange defense mechanisms that tricks predators into thinking the owl is something else, something not worth pursuing. This call, however, is known to freak travellers out if they are unaware of the owl and its call beforehand.
The owls are a mostly harmless species, though their sharp beaks can cause minor cuts and bleeding. It feeds on small organisms that reside on the forest floor, relying on the thick fog to hunt. As they do not need to see their prey, they can stay further away or at angles that are difficult to see from, hiding from their prey in the cover of the fog. Their feathers are almost silent, giving few audible hints of their approach, and the species is able to feel changes in air pressure to evaluate the openness of the environment surrounding them.
Physical Qualities
The eyeless owl, as its name suggests, is an owl-like species with a distinct lack of eyes. Because of the dense fog that covers their habitat, vision would not be much of a benefit to the species, and due to the misleading appearances of nearly every organism native to the fogswept forests and the other fog biomes, it is more beneficial to not have eyes capable of playing tricks on the species' brain. The owls still posses the ability to swivel their heads around to nearly a full 180-degree angle, though this is now more for the benefit of directional hearing, as the sense is elevated in the species. The owls are a mostly harmless species, though their sharp beaks can cause minor cuts and bleeding.
