Aasimar
The result of a relationship / blessing from an Arch Seraph or a similar benevolent being onto a mortal bloodline, some children are born as Aasimar. Most pious societies see this as a blessing and a sign of good things to come, while others covet these beings for their divine blood. Their recent appearance has left many vampires wondering, do they taste the same as a Downcast? Even in just societies, sometimes Aasimar are looked down upon by the Downcast as they eye their divine glow with jealousy and envy. Some say that every Aasimar is born with a destiny and, in studying the few that have come forward to be recognized, many believe that to be true. No matter the case, expectations are thrust upon each Aasimar upon their birth. In the end, some Aasimar find the pressure of what is expected of them to be more than they asked for, sometimes opting to leave the small communities where they are worshiped for a life filled with adventure and danger.
Subraces
Depending on the circumstances of and leading up to an Aasimar's birth, their existence could differ highly. Most common folk of Etharis know nothing of the variations of this race and view them all under a blanket of scrutiny.
- Fallen Aasimar: Some Arch Seraphs and other beings of light have become drastically altered in the wake of the gods' deaths. While they attempt to find their way without the guidance of their former masters, some drift away from the ideals they used to represent. When a particularly twisted angelic host warps a human line in a way that goes against their original nature, a Fallen Aasimar might be born.
- Protector Aasimar: Celebrated with gladness and singing, these Aasimar are usually created by a blessing of the Arch Seraph Aurelia of the Hearth and are meant to be protectors of whatever community they are born into; an expectation that is made very clear to the young Aasimar as they are growing up.
- Scourge Aasimar: Usually created by the Arch Seraph Empyreus to be an addition to their righteous army, Scourge Aasimar have a tendency towards combat proficiency, even from a young age. It is their purpose to fight and die in the name of their lord, a responsibility that none can escape with their honor intact.
