Warforged

The automatons of Etharis, also called Warforged, have a beginning shrouded in mystery. Some scholars insist that the first warforged was created recently by the emerging steam and combustion technology of the gnomes, and many of these brass, hissing, and burning robots can be seen in various places around the world. However, other, much older, warforged have been found. Those found in the same ruins that the Dreamers were discovered in seemed to be constructed out of runes, rocks, and magical essence. The oldest known warforged was recovered by elves during the reclamation of one of their old kingdoms. This automaton was made out of gears, smooth glowing stones, and otherworldly lights, switches, and interface panels dotting its chassis. Not all of these creations are accepted by the world at large, with many a village having burned an innocent warforged that happen to be caught passing too close.
