Grabenstein

Grabenstein, once a dwarven city under the leadership of the Steinbrecher Clan, now lies in ruins. During the Time of Expansion the Bürach Empire fiercely eradicated the dwarven tribes living in the mountains to gain the resources of the Grey Spine. In 20 BR the final battle between the dwarves and the Bürach Empire came to be and the ground was colored red as over 5000 dwarves and humans died on the mountain range. The Empire often tried to reclaim the ruins as their territory, but every military troop send this way disappeared without a sign.
Watchtowers over the mountain range report of a city full of tombstones if they catch a glimpse of the ruins and some report to have seen an old tattered man walking among the dead city. Scouts and adventurers that travel through the area confirm those sightings as some still use the city as a passage over the Grey Spine.
For every soldier no matter if dwarven or human, there is an unnamed tombstone upon the ground of the ruins, with the weapons and armor they wore in battle. The only remaining building that does not seem to be in ruin is an old temple leading into the depths of the mountains.
