Inyimelle Thallas: The Silver Forest is the homeland of all elves on Etheria. It is deep within the northern portion of The Sea of Trees, further than any other Terran dare to go. The elves have conquered this harsh environment by sowing seeds of enchanted metal and growing towering strongholds of twisted steel. The elves are completely self sufficient and rarely stray far from their domain, due in equal part to the monsters of the sea and the greed of their neighbors. There is no strong governing body among the elven communities and it is exceedingly rare for the community to get directly involved in disputes between individuals. Their harshest punishment is baneshment but the last time that was deemed necessary was over 1000 years ago. Despite this laxity, there is an enormous social pressure to avoid rocking the boat. As any elf who makes it past 200 can tell you, private matters seldom stay that way for long when every other elf in the country knows you by name. Another consequence of this phenomenon is that it takes a lot of hemming and hawing to come to an answer when faced with a decision that concerns the whole country such as wars or treaties and it is not rare for negotiations with humans to become generational affairs. In exchange for the freedom to pursue their own intrests and live their own lives, the Silver Forest lost the strong cohesion and singular identity that raised it from the Sea of Trees in the first place. There have been elves particularly fond of man who have sought more decisive leadership, but the majority don't care to step away from their forges for long enough to take notice of one or two nations crumbling before a decision is made.
