Lost Soul
Causes
This condition is caused by long-term soul energy drainage. It occurs mostly to individuals overestimating their capabilities or using rituals and spells that need a lot of soul energy to maintain the wanted effect but can affect anyone who can use soul energy.
Symptoms
There are multiple stages or phases with various symptoms attached to them to the point of no return in terms of treatability.
In rare cases, they will develop additional symptoms like shivering and dark spots on the skin as well as dark circles under the eyes as if they haven't slept well for a long time. This case primarily occurs if the affected individual resists the craving for blood or if there isn't any blood available. Those cases are beyond remedy and condemned to death.
Phase | Symptom |
---|---|
1 |
Rapidly, the body temperature drops until it is almost ice-cold, causing the skin to discolor to a grayish complexion. |
2 |
A frozen heart due to the cold body temperature causes a missing bloodstream and sequentially undernourishment. As a counter-reaction, the affected individual will develop the craving to consume blood to counteract the missing bloodstream. |
3 |
Development of fangs to ease blood consumption. |
4 |
The need for blood increases first to a peak and decreases to a minimum amount afterward. |
Treatment
Lost souls can be treated with a rune tattooed on their bodies. This rune will cause a deceleration of the course of the condition or the complete recovery if it is still in an early phase. Apart from the rune, the only treatment is a steady fresh blood supply.
Prognosis
If the condition is treated within an early phase, there is a slight chance of curing it, but in later stages, it only can be slowed down. This condition will cause undeadness or death in almost all cases, depending on the willingness to consume blood.
