Sunshine piercing through the thick cloud layers covering the Waimana valley is a rare treat that warms the souls of the Kaingan people, provides a power surplus, and allows further expeditions into the normally frigid and flooded lower valleys.
The Hydra buried below the ruins of the Kaingan Arch keeps the Waimana Valley in constant rain and overcast. Why the beast below does this, no one really knows. Anyone couragous enough to try and learn in the past has met with futility or death.
Cast in Shadow
Before the Cutting of Ark, the Waimana Valley enjoyed long stretchs of sun to maintain a regular climate. The sunlight powered the arcologies and facilities below, and helped keep the terraformation process working smoothly.
After Valoo fell during the Lacuna, the entire valley became engulfed in a constant storm. Sunlight became a rare experience, lasting for a day or two at most.
Energetic Warmth
Now, when the sun shines, the people of Kainga move to take advantage of the opportunity. The lower elevations of the Valley warm to above freezing, allowing Kaingans to scour for pre-Lacuna relics and materials. Kaingans will also focus on generating and storing power, which generates much faster under the shine of the sun.
Gosh, I can just imagine how wonderful the sunlight would feel when it is so rare. I like that they do their best to generate as much power as possible on sunny days.
