The subnivean is the seemingly endless subterranean of corralum underpinning many of the extremeties of Jhoutai's polar regions, where megafloral coral of Jhoutai's paleozoic era once grew and thrived in then-temperate climates. In the deeper parts of this system the descendants of the surface fossils still survive.
Because many parts of the subnivean corralum still connect to the modern corralum, tidal forces often push and pull air through the subnivean, resulting in Subnivean Gales.
