Flaystorms

Flaystorms are caused by windstorms snapping off the exposed, needly spines of fossilized and dessicated surface coral. These glassy needles can reach speads up to 80mph, and are called flaystorms because if you get trapped in them, your corpse will be flayed on the storm-facing side.
