Guess what! There's a book now! — (MxM, Thriller, Erotic)

Index Manifestation

While it's not fully proven that it is the case, the prevailing theory for the manifestation of an Index is that it is contingent on someone transcending and becoming a Monolith on a world or near it's WayHall to make the Index appear. Even that theory is spotty, because it is hard enough to find an Index, let alone detect when its anomalous rift first appeared.

The only way to determine if the Index has appeared anywhere is by looking at the dark side of a WayPoint. If the surface is placid, the Index is still missing. If it emits a slight vibration, the Index has manifested somewhere near to a Monolith.

While the sensations of being Monolithic were still fresh to Alathurr, she know that this tugging sensation she felt was a new one, something spurred by the echoing crash that had torn across the landscape earlier this morning. She knew from the descriptions of others before her what that sound meant — or at least, what she hoped it meant. Dreaded it meant.

She would not be the only investigating the sound, even if it was her transcension which triggered it. She'd have to be careful is she wanted to stake her claim — an Index was rarely siezed by the person it arrived for. Older gods and bands of powerful adventuters tended to travel to new worlds specifically to seek Indices, and were rarely above violence in order to acquire them.

Other Theories

It awaits the arrival of a chosen and worthy mind, regardless of if the Monolith transcended there or not.
