History & Usage

History

It was first used to battle mages due to it's extremly high magical resistance, but it wasn't widely spread becaue it was considered a cursed metal made by the demons themsleves.

Discovery

It was discovered by Carthaphylus after he accidentely created concentrated dark essence. The substance hit his mask and gauntles ,seeping into the metal turning it a couple shades darker. The resulting dark steel was highly unstable, but after some tinkering he managed to contain the chaotic substance.

Everyday use

Used in armour and swords.

Refinement

Dark steel is made with dark essence and steel so the manufacture of the beforehand mentioned materials is crucial. After that you can just pour the liquid essence onto the steel. The steel can also be alloyed and/or coated with other various metals which react with the essence in intresting ways.

The material is extremily corruptive, but if sealed properly through various enchatment the effects can be reduced.
