The Taji'cies Settlement in Ethrun | World Anvil

The Taji'cies

The Taji'cies are a collective of five separate settlements which exist at the outer most points of the Kolvat Empire.

Demographics

Population

The Taji people live happy lives isolated from the rest of the world in environments typically inhospitable to normal living creatures. They've been described as humanoid extremophyles and because of this the Taji have often been referred to as their own species even though they descend from humans, elves, and an old race know as the Dorians now thought to be extinct, though their linage can obviously be seen in some examples of the Taji people. Although it is evident that the Taji people are thriving not much is known by outsiders about their society, because of this their is very little information on their population size, density and rate of growth. But every so often one or two individuals find themselves being able to enter the territory which is why anything is known at all. Though this is rare as many who try to enter the territories often wind up never coming back.

Demographics By Province

The Gem of The Dessert:

God: Solin, The Dessert Dragon | Elder: Halid | Warrior:Ciella, The Huntress
This location is located in the heart of a small but harsh dessert. Crossing it is impossible as their is next to no wildlife and the deeper you go the hotter it gets driving many to death by dehydration before they get far. However, if you can make it to the center their is a valley of lush green that surrounds a bountiful oasis. Though the weather is still harsh. Anyone who has not acclimated to it would have to be perpetually drinking from the oasis to stave off heat stroke.
The Cradle of Nature:

God: Berkona, The Earth Dragon | Elder: Glen | Warrior:Matreen, The Assassin
Nestled well within a dense forest this location is well hidden, and protected by the legions of deadly creatures that inhabit the forest as well. These forest have been known to actually exterminate entire armies of armed men. But, the Taji of the Cradle of Nature have a seemingly domestic relation with all the wildlife of the forest who live peacefully among them.
The Land Bellow:

God: Nensokyll, The Shadow Dragon | Elder: Pema | Warrior:Bergal, The Scholar
A fan of impermeable darkness or plummeting to your death in a complex catacombs of connecting cave networks? Well trying to make it to The Land Bellow may just be another Saturday for you, but for most it is a guaranteed way to die. However, its people have adapted to seeing and navigating through the dark of their home.
The Floating Fortress:

God: Gearfely, The Sky Dragon | Elder: Aliwyn | Warrior:Jo'hath, The Knight
Nestled high above the clouds among Ethrun's tallest mountains these people live ever day life blissfully, but anyone who has tried to climb these mountains before preparing themselves ends up falling to their deaths after blacking out from light headedness.
The Valley of Flame:

God: Garrana, The Fire Dragon | Elder: Mei'ar | Warrior:Anglton, The Brute
Home to an active volcanic sight this obsidian "Paradise" is protected by its extreame heat, frequent eruptions which fill the air with toxins, and its ever flowing moat of lava.

Government

The Elders:

Each of the Taji'cies is governed by an elder. They are highly respected members of society chosen by society for their incredible magic prowess which typically comes with great wisdom. These Elders serves as a medium between the dragons' wishes and their people. As this is essentially the governing member of society The Taji'cies' governments are all seen as a Theocracies. When an elder is replaced a survey of the most skilled magic wielders is taken by four elders, every Taji land's elder exuding the elder that is being replace. These four elders must agree unanimously in order for the vote to carry through. As elders have extended life spans granted to them by the dragons they are only replaced every two to three generations. Regardless of this fact every generation has those who train honing their skills with magic hoping that one day they can be chosen to represent the dragon god of their land.

The Dragon Warriors

Each Taji land also is protected by a single warrior who is seen as powerful enough to operate as their own army. This is because these warriors are graced with the power of dragon gods themselves. Unlike the Elders who had to train to be chosen a warrior is chosen by the dragons themselves from a very young age. After a warrior is chosen they are taken in by their respective Elder who trains them in how/ when to use their dragon's power as well as a specialized weapon. These warriors are known among their people for being incredibly ferocious protectors of society and are distinguished by their branding mark which serves as a direct tap into their gods mana reserve.

Infrastructure

Transportation:

The Taji coexists with dragons, so although many may chose to walk many also chose to travel via dragon back. The Taji are also capable of traveling between their individual lands via a series of portals that connect the Taji'cies, but these must be activated by the dragon upon request of the Elders. So they often only open for special events and important messages.

The Dragons

The Taji worship a series of incredibly powerful dragon gods who put everything they need to survive in their incredibly harsh environments within arms reach. Meaning in the harsh desserts Solin may provide you living creatures, but you must hunt to eat, or Nonsokyll may provide light through the caves, but you must find your way. So, everything in society is dependent on them and the dragon companions the Tai co-exist with.

Assets

Education

The Taji don't really have an education system. They live their lives having good times, practicing use of magic, tending to their dragons, and providing themselves with food. So, education isn't really something that's seen as needed. The only thing you need to know is how to take car of yourself and survive under the dragon gods' care.
