Escilar is the northernmost country on the continent of Aenica. It borders the Black Sea, which remains frozen for much of the year, and is made up mostly of icy tundra and thick boreal forests. The night skies of Escilar are frequently lit up by aurorae, which Esclites believe are the flowing robes of god of the sky.
Escilar is ruled by a karr in a form of monarchy. When the karr dies, a tournament is held to determine the new karr, which is a mixture of wrestling, hunting, and feats of strength.
