The Caillish Orthodoxy

A conservative sect of the Faith

The Faith is one of the largest religions in Etrea, dominating much of the northern hemisphere. It has its roots on the large island of Erias, and was spread with the growth of the Erish Empire. The Faith is a monotheistic religion that worships the Mother, a deity they believe is responsible for all life and creation.   The Caillish Orthodoxy is a denomination of the Faith that exists predominantly in the country of Caillah. It split off from the main religion almost three thousand years ago, when Caillah was colonised by the Erish who would become the modern day Caillish. The Mother worshipped by the Orthodoxy is a much more vengeful and judgemental deity compared to the Mother worshipped by the rest of the religion. Their places of worship tend to be much more austere; it is not that the churches are not rich and powerful, but that they are much more subtle about showing it off.   The ruler of Caillah is also the de jure head of the Orthodoxy, meaning that religion and the government is inextricably linked.

Oh boy, a vengeful and judgemental deity? I can see why this religion might have some bad tendencies especially with the wrong people in charge.   And no separation of church and state? Venting about American politics huh?   Love the article, thanks for submitting!

Excellent read when the Erish colonised Caillah, how fast did the religion split into two?

A few hundred years. It stemmed from one of the first kings of Caillah writing a book about his dreams of the Mother, and that becoming one of the most important texts for the new Orthodoxy. :)   Thank you
