The Sanctuary Sewers

A marvel of engineering

Built in the 4460s, the sewers of Sanctuary are still heralded as a marvel of civil engineering even almost a thousand years later. Before construction, they were thoroughly planned, though, as the city has expanded over the years, more sections have been added - some more refined than others.   As Sanctuary is located at the foot of the Falas mountains, some of the underground rivers and streams were diverted to be used in the new sewage system, with safeguards in place so that waste could not back up and contaminate the natural waterways. This has ensured a constant flow of water through the sewers, guiding waste to special treatment bays. Here, water is both mechanically and magically filtered to ensure it is as clean as possible before being allowed to continue back into the natural river systems.
