The Shield's Slumber is a special chamber built alongside the Elenasia family crypts under the castle of Lord's Rock. Its purpose is to hold the body of the Shield if he dies before the High Lord. The body of the Shield is placed in a temporary wooden casket, his name engraved on the lid, and the casket is covered with an embroidered cloth known as the Shield's Shroud. Once the High Lord dies, the Shield is removed from this temporary casket and given the proper funeral rites before being sealed with the High Lord inside his tomb, shielding him even in death.
