Government

Traditional Monarchy. A lot of work is left to advisers and supporting roles within the court as the current King is disinterested in the everyday work of running Pleres. The Noble Houses have their own hierarchy and political gatherings where they unofficially make decisions within their group to take to the King/his staff. They have only as much power as the King allows them to have, which is quite a bit with how much desire King Aldin has to run Pleres, he generally takes the advice of the Nobles.

Architecture

The majority of the city is built from stone sourced from the nearby mountain range. In the more affluent part of the city you can spot less common materials. Most building are quite basic and built more with practicality in mind but it is not uncommon to see small carvings and decorations made of stone adorning the buildings, especially if it has special meaning behind it. On the outskirts most housing is made from wood sourced from the forests and have a much more quaint feeling to them.

Geography

Pleres is a large capital city enclosed by dense mountains on three sides. It looks almost as if it is built into the mountains. Roads lead out of the city to the east, west and south and are well maintained as these are important trade routes.

Natural Resources

Pleres is built right into it's major resource, minerals from the nearby mountain range. Many metals and minerals are found in these mountains that span quite a distance and Pleres has based most of its trade on this resource. Being close to the coastline Pleres has a major river that travels to the east just north of the city, cutting through part of the mountain range to reach the ocean. Pleres sources most of its water from this river. With a forest nearby meats, furs and wood are not hard to come by. The outskirts of Pleres are populated by farmers that take advantage of being so close to a central trade point. Basic grain and vegetables are commonly grown in the area surrounding Pleres to be sold in the city or exported.
