Vardenfell
Where ideas flood the land
Wedged between the mountains and seas, with little only small gaps for travel, the land of Vardenfell has developed as a land of unique challenges, and unique solutions. The rivers and coast of Vardenfell almost predictably flood often, and to counter this, the people have used a mix of magic and constructs to direct the waters away from problematic areas. While trade is good here, it lacks any notable trade hubs or resources and is more of a middle point between other parts of Avignon, and the Dithmarburg Lowlands and the Mark. However, the water systems and general landscape is worth note for any visitor to these lands.Henry Norwick, Travellers Guide to Evantian, Press of Wien, Wien, 1705.
Geography
The region of Vardenfell is mostly flat, tucked into the area between the Avignon mountains and the Northern Seas, with the Rhur River and it's many, many distributary rivers and flows forming a large delta region. To this end, while the land is fertile it often floods and this has lead to the people who live here having to find work arounds, espically those near Friesa Lake and Rhur Lagoon.
Fauna & Flora
The more swamp-like terrain of Vardenfell has produced a ecology unique to the region, with many breeds of insect and flood proof plantlife mixed with a few animals found in most areas. The Genton Alligator is only found in this region, however this is in low numbers.
Natural Resources
The only real natural resouces for most of Vardenfell is flowers and fish, both thanks to the many waterways of the region. The less flat, more rough areas that hug the mountains inland provide some diversity, but this isn't of much note.
