Mechanics & Inner Workings
This tome functions as a regular Rosetta Tome, except it also has the ability to teach a user a language. In order to do so, once per day a user may spend 1 uninterrupted hour to study the tome to attempt to study a language. If so, the user must make a DC12 Linguistics check. On a success, the user gains a Language Point in the chosen language. On a DC20, the user gains 2 points. Once the user has gained 4 points towards the chosen language, they add that language to their list of languages known and reset their Language Points to 0. The DCs of this check increases by 1 for each Language Point the user possesses and each day they did not study since their last session, up to a maximum of 20 for the base DC, at which time the user’s Language Points are reset to 0. If the user attempts to learn a different language during this time, the DC resets to 12, and any current Language Points are lost.
