Tybal Brim

Grandmaster Tybalister Aurtor Vanderbrim (a.k.a. The Man with the Golden Thread)

Cursed from birth with the visage of the Hells, Tybal found himself the subject of hate, austerity, and humiliation through his early years. Now, he looks back on those days as if they were simply a faded piece of fabric on his countless spools of silk. Considered a god amongst artisans, he has forged himself a name that spans the multiverse that draws in the most powerful and wealthy of the known edges of existence to sample his wares.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Tybal is fit for the gods. He relates this to his diet of spicy meats, hearty grains, and a heaping ton of vegetables - and exercise, of course, but doesn't want you to know that.

Body Features

Horns protruding from his forehead that tail off to the back of his head

Facial Features

A well defined jawline, eyes that seem to invite a compliment, and facial hair fashioned into a well-maintained moustache and pointed beard.

Identifying Characteristics

Excessive jewellery, gold tipped horns, and a radiant presence

Physical quirks

Waves his hands around like Jack Sparrow

Special abilities

  • A perfect fit. Tybal can use an action to fully identify a target's height, weight, muscle mass. He also learns the value of two of their physical stats.
  • Unshackled enchantment. Tybal can disenchant powerful magical items, preserving the original, and transfer the magic into a new item. He can also enchant an item over its typical limit equal to his Intelligence modifier.
  • Interdimensional transposition. Tybal is capable of teleporting to one of his many "branches" in the material plane if he is summoned by the little brass bell that sits in the dark room.
  • Killer look. If Tybal feels threatened by a customer who is wearing his attires, he can say a secret command word to have the clothes or attires constrict around the wearer, making it impossible to remove them, move, or breathe.

Personal history

Tybal was poised to become the head of the family before his birth, thought to become a strong and dashing Half-Elf, Half-Genasi. This was not to be and he was brought into the world a Tiefling touched by the magic of Mephistopheles. Through his childhood he was reluctantly shown the secrets of wine-making by his Elven mother and taught the culture of his Izahlian father. Yet, this reluctancy became abject rejection upon the birth of Tybal's sister, Zeza, who, by all accounts, was born as expected as a Half-Elf, Half-Genasi - now poised to be the head of the family when she came of age.   Over the years, Tybal and Zeza began to get to know each other better and better, becoming closer than their parents ever were, and yet, as time marched on and the two grew up, their paths in life began to diverge. Zeza became the family's head vintner, and Tybal was evicted from the home. With only the clothes on his back and some money he had stashed away, he began travelling to cities to find a place to call his own. He found himself in the care of an elderly Dwarf lady who made clothes for the poor and unfortunate from the scraps that she could barely afford.   The years rolled on yet again, and Tybal, now no longer an apprentice due to the passing of his mentor, took over the shop that had saved him from a life on the streets. He continued his master's generosity and began providing first time patrons to a gift. His charisma, wily charm, and radiant looks brought people in from all over. But one day, on a fateful day, a few adventurers passed through his door talking about their plans to head into the Plane of Fire, to the revered City of Brass to obtain powerful and rare equipment. Desperate to go with them to find out more about this place, he gave them whatever he could at a harrowingly large discount in exchange that they take him. Surprisingly, they agreed, and they ventured into the City after its hefty toll cost.   Dazzled by the city, Tybal used whatever money he had to buy a small storefront and begin from nothing once again. This time, in honour of his master, naming his store after its predecessor - The Golden Thread. For what seemed years, only days went by, and Tybal found himself being able to afford the most luxurious fabrics and metals, and with enough to spare to live a life of luxury - moreso than whatever his family had.   Now, Tybal has been in business for only a few decades in his lifespan, but centuries in the material plane. In this time, mastering enchanting, armour and weapon smithing, and other artistry that others spend their whole lives to be considered a master in. This earned him the nomer of "The Man with the Golden Thread", a reference to his store and the supposed golden thread that binds the Gods to fate.
