After refusing to follow the customs of the Lakeland Elves, Yanniras of Vala, heir to the throne of Lakeland, surrendered to Enda of Sunda, who claimed the throne of Lakeland for the House of Sunda, the original monarchs of the Kingdom. The House of Vala was exiled to their ancestral estate, and Enda's father, Ermynn of Sunda ascended to the throne upon the blessing of Archrector Aligroil XI.

The Forces of the House of Sunda, and many other minor noble houses in Lakeland marched on the Capitol City of Lakeleaf after the death of Iliana of Vala, Queen Monarch of Lakeland. According to the custom of Lakeland Elves, the heir to the throne must make pilgrimage to Down Island and seek the blessing of the Archrector of the Church of Down. While Archrector Aligroil XI indicated he would bless Iliana's heir, Yanniras, the Vala Prince announced his refusal to seek blessing from a son of the House of Sunda, sworn enemies of the House of Vala, and instead declared himself King of Lakeland. The House of Sunda, confined to the outskirts of the Kingdom since they were deposed, marched on Lakeleaf, led by Enda of Sunda, and joined by other noble houses angered by the slight against the Church of Down. They were joined by the Knights of Solera four days into their seige of the palace, and Yanniras of Vala eventually surrendered, his family exiled to the family estate, Loughfey, in Southern Lakeland. Lord Enda claimed the throne of Lakeland for its original family, the House of Sunda, and declared his father, Lord Ermynn King of Lakeland.
