The Guardians
Of the Descendants of the Eith
The Guardians are the designated protectors of the Descendants of the Eith. They are renowned throughout the Fedheran Union as undefeatable warriors of inhuman speed and strength. Their techniques are distinct but usually only recognisable by one who has received the training, or been raised around one of the Guardian barracks.
Origin
Historically, they were the guards of the Pure Descendants who specialised in fighting with, and against, Source-wielders. After the signing of the The Purge Covenant, the Descendants set out to cleanse their family lines and erradicate any rogue bloodlines who still used the Source. Each sorcerer Descendant was trained to journey and fight in a unit of 3 to 4 Guardians. The sorcerer would track down rogues and act as Judge. The Guardians acted as envoy and executioners. As the number of rogue sorcerers dwindled, the function of the Guardians changed and they became personal bodyguards. Their training remained very much the same but the squads were reduced to 2 Guardians per sorcerer.Recruitment
Guardians are recruited from the Descendants without any Source abilities, and from bastards. All Descendants who do not have Source abilities by the age of 12, and are physically fit, receive 5 years of mandatory Guardian training. Training for Guardians includes the subjects of warefare, martial arts, medical practice, toxology and law. Most begin their training at 10 to 12 years of age. Their education continues in through out their lives as new practices emerge in each field. Guardians fight with single-handed swords and shield, or knife. They receive training in archery, but are rarely seen to use them as their function is no longer as an offensive force.
