Golden earthcat (earth-cat)

This desert predator is the largest known earthcat, even bigger than the black earthcat in Gurr. It has shiny, short, golden fur, black eyes and seven tail with tufts. There are larger folds of skin above its eyes, which is good cover for the eyes in a sandstorm. However, with age, these skin folds stretch, and as result, the oldest earthcats are completely blind. An extremely successful hunter, it ambushes its prey. Couples often hunt together. Its prey are primarily antelopes grazing around river valleys and oases, but due environment, the golden earthcat is often forced to eat fish, snakes and rodents as well. In times of famine, it may attach travelers or villages, but otherwise avoids humanoids. From long time, golden earthcats have also been used to guard churches, shrines, other holy sites and the richest palaces in Sneadal. Catching and training them requires exceptional knowledge perseverance. When the time of battle comes, the Desaladite, members of the all-female temple guards, face off against the invaders in the company of their loyal earthcats.
