Atori Oil/Grease/Perfume
Atori Oil is one of the biggest Astumian exports of the modern world and comes from the ,now named, Atori Forest, it was discovered around 100 years ago by a local man out on a hunting trip. Now the Atori Forest is not one usually associated with hunting, however this wandering hunter saw a new challenge and struck gold. One night while travelling through, he tapped one of the trees to get it's sap for hydration, as no water source could be found in his immediate vicinity. He filled two waterskins from a couple of the trees and continued on his hunt.
Later the next day he came to use the second waterskin filled from the tree and found it to have taken on an oily consistency. Avoiding drinking from this, he realised he could use this oily sap to care for his bow and keep it moisturised and supple, which to his delight he found to work. He then began trying this oil in various different manners, most with some success, some with very little. What he realised was that if he left the sap in a container for a couple of days untouched and unmoved, he was able to extract 3 different ingredients from the one sample. One being the oil in greater concentration, the other being a sort of thick grease type ingredient and the third being a watery substance that gave off a strange odour.
Over the next few months the hunter spent time with each of these materials, experimenting with them and seeing what effect they had on various different materials and how it reacted with them. He realised that oil he discovered could offer moisturing properties, it also reacted really well with hair on the head and his facial hair.
The grease seemed to be a more solid verison of the oil and it made it easier to apply to leather and his bow with more precision. In both cases the grease ensure the suppleness of the handmade bow and the leather was also supple and created a water resistance to material that would otherwise soak water up like a sponge.
The third product he realised he could mix with various plants and herbs very easily. He also realised that this boosted the scents of such additional ingredients, and began to make various perfumes with it
He took his research and aquired materials and began to pitch to prospective investors in Ylleron and soon made himself rich and famous, which led to the mass harvesting and exporting of the Atori Products.
