Pri'Malor (Pre-mal-ore)
Pri'Malor is a coming of age ceremony in the Astumian Empire. It is a ceremony that a young person will undertake at the age of 16. The entire things is the responsibility of the father to put together.
The father of the individual will reach out to the local scholars, soldiers, and scientists to put together a team of four to create the Pri'Malor. The preparations of this are begun two years prior and a blood oath is made to avoid giving any help to the young person.
What does the Ceremony entail?
These trials will test a child's body, mind and morals, they are trials seen to be very harsh by a lot of cultures that know about Primalor. The child will go through 6 stages of Pri'Malor broken down into the below categories:- Intelligence- This will test their knowledge retention of certain aspects. Astumian history and political knowledge can be tested during this stage
- Logic- A series of puzzles are usually given to the child to solve
- Strength- Some form of test of strength be this combat, labour or a combination of the two
- Dexterity- Some form of assault course or creative task that requires the dexterity skill
- Heart- This is the trial that most believe to be the harshest of all. This stage requires some sort of sacrifice to see what the child will do. The life of a pet is one that has been used before, in this case the child must choose to save the animal or allow it to die.
- Diplomacy- This stage is loosely termed. In fact it is another morals test where they may be given a political scenario or maybe a group of homeless and needy and see how the child reacts
After the ceremony
Once the child has completed the ceremony they are given a tattoo underneath the eye, depicting a symbol of their new social status. This is decided by the official overseeing the trail. The tattoos given stand for:- Blue crescent- The Social Elite, the only thing stopping these people from being nobility at this stage is blood. These are individuals who exceed expectations in all of the trials put to them
- Blue book- Upper class people, these people are welcomed into the rich communities and looked after. Anything they want it’s there’s, they must pay this forward (Think freemasons in the real world). These are people who have shown great ability in the mental tasks
- White rose- The middlers, these people are the ones that the empire doesn’t care what they do. They aren’t seen to be an asset nor a threat. These are those that performed to an average assessment
- Red Hammer- The labourers, those with a severe lack of intelligence and high strength are welcomed in the industrial sectors. They are only looked down on by the elitists.
- Black dot- The paupers, these are the ones that offer no use for society at all, they are moved down to the north of the country and left to fend for themselves. The only thing that stops the Emperor ridding this class from the world is the money and effort it would take to dispose of their bodies
