Everos

After the first wars over the Tears of Everos the civilizations of the world are in a decline. The tears were stolen in the first wars over 200 years ago causing the civilizations evolutionary gifts to diminish making living in their homelands increasingly dangerous. The Elementals, the first creations of the Will of Everos believe to let the civilizations continue their rapid evolution is against the will of nature and that the Will of Everos was wrong in playing in creating the new races and twisting nature. There are those in the world that follow this idea and aid the elementals in their ultimate goal. They believe by bringing together all 8 Tears of Everos that the world will reset and revert back to how it was over 6000 years ago.     Over 100 years the war of tears raged on. Civilizations turned on each other over the Tears of Everos. Those that lost their Tears fought desperatly to reclaim them even attempting to take other civilizations Tears. Settlements were destroyed, many lives lost, many of the Elementals were slain but ultimately the Elementals won and one by one the tears were stolen. The last tear that was to be claimed by the Elementals was the Tear of Aurora. The Civilization located in the far south east of the main continent. The Nepaulians were the most powerful and magically edpt of all the civilizations. Their Tear of Everos shone like a star and made a perpetual aurora above their capitcal city of Gildenspire. It gave them increased lifespans and more magical capabilities. In an attempt to hide their Tear of Everos from the Elementals they performed an alchemical ritual upon it which turned their Tear against them. The region of Aurora no longer shines like a star with auroras overhead. It is now forever enveloped in shadow and all those who enter never return.   The Elementals have 7 of the 8 Tears of Everos and have hidden them inside the Cradle of the Elements and have made many attempts to get the final Tear from the city of Gildenspire but to no avail as the region of Aurora, shrouded in eternal darkness claims all that enter.   For 250 years the world has slowly started to recover from the first wars. Tension is still high between civilizations but trade is flowing and the world is turning. As the evolutionary gifts of the races is diminishing the civilizations try to adapt without being able to rely on the Tears of Everos to bolster them.   The people of Pinefell are suspected of planning a war against the Elementals to reclaim the Tears of Everos while the Plainsmen of Coalreach, the one Civilization of Everos that has no ties to any Tears of Everos, have been plotting an expedition into the shrouded realm of Aurora to attempt to claim a Tear for Themselves.   The Azoic Domain has been quiet for 100 years and non dare enter the sea for monsterous creatures are said to be lurking in the waters.
