ghost town
Deep inside the northern forest once stood a village. It was far away from all main roads so travelers and merchants rarely ever stopped there. It was a peaceful village that have never seen war for it was too far for the either army to bother drafting the few capable men there, or for the enemy to care attacking it. People from the village rarely came to the city either.
In one hottest night of the summer, a boy from the village ran panicking inside the nearest city, demanding to see the mayor. He was bloody and sweaty. Seeing his state, the guards offered him to rest first, but he refused, telling them it was a matter of life and death. He was brought to the mayor and told him about strange cloaked figures entering the village a few months before. He said that looking back, he could tell that the older townsfolk seemed very afraid of them, like they had seen them before or knew what was going to happen. The boy proceeded to tell the mayor that ever since they came people started slowly disappearing and that he was sent to get help.
The mayor decided to help and a unit of guards joined by the boy was sent to the town. They rode for days until they finally arrived. When they did, they were shocked. Instead of the town that was supposed to be there, stood an empty glade. It was a perfect circle of flat grass just laying there in the middle of the thick forest. Nothing seemed to indicate that houses were destroyed or moved. The only sign that the town had ever been there was a single dark cloak laying on the ground.
The guards searched for days, but no sign of the townsfolk or the remainings of the town has ever been found. It wasn't long after that the boy himself and the guards that went with him had disappeared.
