Storyline
Last we left off, the party set sail from Brokenbank, but altered course as a tropical storm raged in the Lucidian Ocean. In the early morning hours of their first day at sea, as the storm came upon them, the Wavechaser lurched to an abrupt stop. As the crew woke and attempted to determine the cause, a small group of undead boarded the ship and attacked the unexpecting seafarers.
A hulking ghast took Floridicus by surprise, almost ending the half-orc’s time at sea. Nemeia helped dispatch some sea-soaked skeletons with the aid of helmsman Axebeard. Esormaj provided much needed respite to Floridicus while Sergei blasted the Ghast off the ship with a thunderous strike. The Ghast quickly returned topside to continue its assault while Nyckle called forth the aid of a fiery and foremidiable spirit. Tev reacted by taking a defensive posture and attempted to support his newly found companions. As the foes fell one by one, the adventurers came to discover one of the crew, Boerth, had been lost to an unseen assailant.
In exploring the bodies of these undead creatures, the party discovered several curious necklaces that seem to allow them the ability to breathe underwater. Esormaj recognized the iconography of the necklaces as belonging to the followers of Uk’otoa, a serpent-like deity worshiped along the coasts of the Lucidian ocean. Although, most of the traditional worshipers, the Ki’nau, have assimilated with the Marquiseans over the past several generations to form the modern-day Clovis Concord.
With the ship still immobile, Floridicus, Nyckle, and Esormaj went to explore how it came to a stop. Not only did they discover they ran aground of a sandbar, but they also discovered remnants of an old site of worship, or more specifically, a sacrificial altar to Uk’otoa lost to the sea. As the storm moved north and the first rays of light emerged over the horizon, Nyckle spotted off the port side the faint outline of an unknown island. What would you like to do?
