The Bone Shop's Cabinet of Curiosities

Worldanvil February 24 Challenge

The Bone Garden's main attraction is a cabinet of curiosities that is Rerosha's pride and joy. Rerosha has stuffed the polished ebony cabinet with the shop's most valuable items. The cabinet stands behind Rerosha's counter and is magically protected.   The 21 objects detailed below are not for sale. However, if a player helps Rerosha, she could be convinced to part with one of them or at least do a swap.

Description

The ornate snow globe is one of the most beautiful objects in Rerosha's cabinet of curiosities. The globe base is made of pure silver and sports intricate traceries of leaves and fruit. The dome is of the finest and purest crystal.

Inside the dome is a miniature white castle built on a snowy hill. Around the castle, a dark pine forest spreads to either side of the dome.
The castle seems to be made of the finest white marble and is decorated with many angels, gargoyles, and crenelations. Through the tiny windows, lights forever shine, bringing the scene to life.

Rerosha knows that a powerful enchantment has been spun around the globe, but no one has yet been able to work out what the enchantment is and what is the globe's purpose.  Identify spells that do not work on the item.

Rarity

The snow globe is a wondrous item, created by a powerful archfey. The object is considered cursed despite its beautiful exterior and contains a pocket dimension or plane.

History

The snow globe is very much admired, but Rerosha cannot part with it as it was given to her by a mysterious stranger three years ago, a tall, dark elf. He told Rerosha his name was Myron. The globe was exchanged against a few health potions she had in stock.

Myron said he would return one day to buy back the globe. It was not the first or last time that adventurers came and exchanged artefacts against other goods. Rerosha does not mind as long as she thinks there is some advantage for herself in the transaction.

Myron told her that spells that conjure up magical darkness should not be cast around the object. When Rerosha saw the snow globe, she fell in love with it, often taking it out from the cabinet to shake and stare at it.
She swears that sometimes she can see shadows moving from within the castles.

Significance

Rerosha is keen to keep the globe; it is one of her favourite objects in the shop. She is also very curious as to the powerful enchantment it possesses.
If someone could work out the mystery surrounding the globe, she could be persuaded to let it go or at least lend it for a period of time. Rerosha worries that Myron will return and cannot buy back the globe from her.

Properties

The Winterheart's Keep is the secret prison of a powerful archfey who lives within the castle inside the globe. If the players cast Darkness or a similar spell that conjures up magical darkness, a silver gate will magically appear in the gloom and let a party inside the globe's pocket dimension.

By clearing the dungeon, the players can free the fey prince from his snowy prison. They will be rewarded with a ring of three wishes, with options for more rewards and loot along the way.

Secret History

Unbeknown to Rerosha, Myron is the moniker of a powerful fey named Mironien Hyemor, the Winterstar. His twin brother is the Winterheart, Briarswan Hyemor. Both princes belong to the Winter Court and are powerful entities in their own right.

Briarswan was once Maeve's lover but was cursed by the Queen of Night and Winter after the prince fell in love with a mortal woman and left the Feywild.

Briarswan was banished to the plane represented by the globe and unable to leave. His brother Mironien has made it his life's mission to free his brother from the curse he is under. He is currently in Exandria looking for adventurers to find their way into the keep and defeat its untold terrors.
