Othemoor

Thick with humid air stinking of stale water and mildewed wood, the marshland of the Othemoor is considered by most outsiders to be an unpleasant place filled with nasty creatures and sinister trees. As unwelcoming as the landscape might be, the minerals of the bog mud are known to have restorative properties, and a number of extremely rare plants and roots that only grow in the Othemoor have become popular in modern medicine, as well as meals within affluent social circles. The marsh is large and ancient, and has swallowed many secrets over the millennia, some of which have been known to rise to the top of the muck unexpectedly.

Geography

“The hilly expanse of the Menagerie Coast begins to give way to a wetland. The trees here are scattered far and few and the earth becomes muddy and slick. Herbaceous plants grow and die in a continual cycle here. The flora are not colorful, but earthy browns, greys, and yellows make up the brush here. Water chestnut and papyrus grow thick here. The smell of still water and long wet mud lingers in the air. Any movement through the Othemoor is arduous and slow. Every step makes a Sch-loock sound, and mud quickly covers everyone’s boots, hooves, and scaly feet.

Localized Phenomena

You all stumble upon a muddy clearing, what’s odd is not a plant grows in this mud. Marshes are known for their rich nutrients and this mud should give way to at least a few plants. The clearing is about 60 feet in diameter, and towards the center a stone monolith that is aged, chipped, and leaning to at a 70 degree angle. It only stands about 4 feet out of the mud. A single person will not set of the implosion of the muddy floor, only when all of the PCs have stepped onto the surface will the bog begin to dip and sink. Those within 10 feet of the monolith automatically fail, the others get a Dex Save DC 25.   “The mud beneath your feet begins to sag, almost like a deflating. With no time to react and muddy hole opens up and begins to suck everyone in. Like a inescapable whirlpool. Those nearest to the Monolith drop into the mud being consumed by it. Those at the edge have a chance to make it out.   Everyone who was sucked in begins to slide down what seem like a tunnel, the mud turning more into a dirt water, and those that fell are shot out into a carved stone tunnel. The way behind you having collapsed in, leaving only a muddy slope blocking out all access from that area.

Fauna & Flora

The Theki Root is from the Theki bush, it grows nearest to big pools of water. It has a sharp bristly look to its leaves and is very squat. The Muroosa bush is a thinning bush, the branches are easily seen but it grows a reddish 3 in long leaves on it, mixed with like a coconut fiber reddish plant material.     The Olisuba tree is one of the few trees found in the marsh lands. They are bare at the bottom and are extremely skinny tress. The branch shape looks umbrella like and the leaves that grow from it are small and deep verdant.     The Willoshade is a small fruit bush, similar to berry bushes. The Fruit growing on the plants almost look like tiny berries but are star fruit shaped purple fruit.     The most abundant of the 4 will be muroosa Balm. The other 3 are all equally scares. Herbalism check 13 to find muroosa Balm. Herbalism check 17 to find each of the other 3.
