  Welcome to the world of Exandria. A world once filled with magic where gods walked the material realm. After a terrible war known as the Calamity, the victorious Gods of Creation left Exandria and separated themselves behind a divine gate, the only way they were able to keep the Betrayer Gods from destroying what they built in the material plane. The mortal beings left behind were required to fend for themselves and forge a new world on their own.   Although the majesty and power of the Gods no longer inhabit Exandria, essences of the gods still remain throughout the world. Some mortals (wizards, druids, bards) have even been able to harness the ambient magical energy that still runs. Others pray to the gods or make deals with powerful entities (clerics/paladins/warlocks) in trade for the power to wield magic. Some select few who are descended from heroes or villains or who were born under strange circumstances seem to have magic already running through their bodies (sorcerer). Others without magic adventure through life using their minds, bodies, or both. No matter the style, adventurers find their way through Exandria in seek of fame, fortune, or just a place that fits.
