Session 20: The Villagers Report

Ceonwulf heals himself and then compels the gnoll holding a hostage to a duel. It finds itself rooted to the spot indecisively. Gwen shoots the gnoll leader in the chest. As Ceonwulf grapples with a larger gnoll fighter and takes several hits, Theia splits her attention between the faltering leader and the minion holding the human hostage. Striking at both with a psychic attack, the leader drops his weapon, screams and dies in pain while the latter survives the ordeal. The gnoll hunters circle the band, dropping both Ongar and Ceonwulf to the ground in a hail of arrows. Gwen skulks around the western edge of the ruin, picking her shots and picking off stragglers. This frees up Roderick and Theia, and as Roddy engages an archer. He shouts to Theia to take care of the wounded as he and Gwen kill one of the hunters. Jakuki fearlessly rushes the last two and drops into a defensive stance, dancing between their attacks. Theia rushes to the aid of Ongar and then Ceonwulf, staunching the bleeding and ministering to their life threatening injuries. Ongar pulls himself out of the water and hides from the arches as best he can, while Ceonwulf charges back into the fray despite being barely conscious and sporting a tourniquet around one leg. Somehow he remains upright as the last two gnolls are surrounded and slain. Theia slumps to the ground, overwhelmed from the violence of the battle, and the bone weary walking wounded gather once more around the firepit from the night before. Prisoners of the gnolls introduced as: Gloriana, human woman. Ex guard for a noble house. Grillia, tiefling woman, healer - short curly, greying hair. Fairly old even for a tiefling. Sports war wounds that make her move stiffly. Worked in the Crownsguard over a hundred years ago. Leif, human male, 29, 6', sharp but fairly attractive face Grillia and Theia bind wounds and make sure everyone is stable and comfortable as the cagey introductions are made. Upon explaining that Thornbank sent the party, they explain that they had been "collected" - willingly - by Ralarzika and built up a community in a nearby settlement. Zeke has gone missing, died or otherwise been indisposed, giving a tribe of gnolls opportunity to attack the gathered folk. The trio, now free, are planning to return to save their friends and loved ones.I love the fact that's the reason why you wouldn't. Expensive model.
