Session 24: The Rule of Three Report

General Summary

Jakuki charges forwards and kneecaps the remaining ogre. Ongar, clinging to consciousness, fires off a series of firebolts which fells the beast. Theia calls for Gwen, who is hiding at the back, as Ceonwulf sidles up to Ongar to offer up a bit of healing and stabilise him on his feet. As Gwen arrives at Theia's side with an inquisitive look, she casts Light on a proffered arrow, which is subsequently fired into the side of a lurking green hag. With the trio now visible, Roderick likewise illuminates them with faerie fire, but one evades the effect.
The team lay into the exposed coven of hags, who seem to be sharing any wounds inflicted amongst them, lessening the overall impact on any one of them. One gains a moment to cast a phantasmal fear effect on AD2000, but otherwise the onslaught goes unimpeded for several more seconds.
They raise their hands and croak a message of negotiation, time which Ceonwulf uses to close on them and 2K, Gwen and Jakuki stand poised, ready to strike but hesitant. Theia begins to cast a pall of silence, but pauses and asks them if they are surrendering. Roderick shakes his head and continues his assault - to which the hags respond with two blasts of lightning. The first floors and almost outright kills Ongar hidden in the back of the cavern. Jakuki does his best to absorb the attack and AD2000 struggles to remain standing after being grazed with both. The hail of reciprocal attacks flies in from those still standing, and the aura of silence slips into place a moment too late.
After a moment of confusion, the hags begin to lay about themselves with vicious blows with their claws bared. This takes Ceonwulf by surprise, who collapses to the floor with blood pouring from his throat. Jakuki soon finds himself surrounded by the three hags, while Roderick is forced to draw his sword to keep up the assault.
Dashing to the back of the cave after calling out to Ongar, Theia finds him crumpled and with barely a whisper of a heartbeat remaining. She ekes out a small amount of healing and restores him to consciousness before turning back to the fight. The melee continues with all trading blows in abject silence, Jakuki struggling but managing to stay ahead of the vicious swings raining on him. Theia dashes to Ceon's side, and realising that her healing requires a whispered word instinctually drops the veil of silence surrounding them. The cave explodes back into echoing curse words, clangs of weapons and thunder-infused attacks once more as Ceonwulf is brought back around.
The last hag topples to a thunderous strike from Roderick, and the battered and exhausted group stand barely victorious over the bodies of their foes.
