Session 31: Incident in the Warty Hag Report

General Summary

Discussions on how to storm the room continue as Theia, Jakuki and Gwen join the others. They agree to approach the situation more directly, with Jakuki and Theia "disarmed" past the checkpoint, followed by 2K armed with the sack of gold from the assassin and accompanied by Roderick. Ceonwulf and Ongar are primed to Misty Step into the main room. Gwen sneaks around the back to approach from one of the service entrances. The first duo are disarmed, frisked and let in, though their appearance immediately spooks Deg, who calls to Urseco, the tiefling bouncer. 2K opens the bag of gold and tells Urseco that 400g is his if he walks away. The bouncer pauses, but enters and closes the door behind him. Ongar tries to push the doors open, but finds them blocked by the tiefling on the other side. Deg sneers at Theia that she has a lot of nerve, entering as just the two of them and unarmed. He calls to his thugs around him, who stand and reach for maces and crossbows, advancing on the duo.
Jakuki wrestles with Urseco, eventually managing to unbalance him and dragging him away from the door. Ceonwulf Misty Steps right on top of the bar, staring down at the thugs arrayed around him. Roderick sweeps the doors open, entering the bar and dispersing faerie fire over Deg and one of his cohorts.
As Theia surrounds herself with spirit guardians, Ongar and 2K approach the doors behind Roddie and fire at the thugs enshrouded in faerie fire. Ceonwulf dispatches a minion threatening Theia as Gwen sneaks in via a back room and fires at an unsuspecting thug behind the bar.
As the rest of the people in the bar run for cover, the thugs are soon dispatched leaving Norgin Deg and Urseco to keep fighting. The big bruiser keeps Jakuki and Roderick engaged with heavy hammer blows, magically unnerving both of them with his weapon and mostly shrugging off their retorts. Deg meanwhile assails Theia in melee, landing several hits. Ceonwulf joins in against the bouncer as the others lay their fire into Deg. He continues to focus on Theia until she becomes seriously wounded and unsteady on her feet, her spirit guardians fading. Ceonwulf shifts and interposes himself between them and Gwen steps up behind, incapacitating the ringleader with a sharp blow.
Finally, Urseco breaks focus on his fight to realise that he's the last one standing, and surrounded by foes.
