First Guards of Raisen
The Protectorate of Raisen is a sovereign territory under the control of The Raisen Institute. The city-state is entirely devoted to the management of the institute and the fortification of the goals and ambitions of the institute.
Interestingly the security of the Protectorate of Raisen is not entrusted to the citizens of Raisen but is managed by its neighbour Muzaffarnagar who has a special division dedicated to the task. The Force is known as the "Guards of The Protectorate of Raisen" and they operate within the boundaries of Raisen.
A more specialised unit within this security force is known as the "First Guards of Raisen". They are the personal guards of the "Master Librarian, First Knight of Raisen, Defender of the Books" and "The Governing Council of 20", They also guard the major building of the Raisen Institute such as the library, while the "Guards of The Protectorate of Raisen" look after the city in general and the minor Raisen Institute buildings. As such they are close to all powers of government within the Protectorate of Raisen and have access to great intelligence. They have benefited over the years because of this closeness and have amassed a private fortune in the name of the First Guards of Raisen.
The blue and white standard that is used for both the "First Guards of Raisen" and the "Guards of The Protectorate of Raisen" is meant to symbolise the "ocean surrounding the pure white of truth" which is the representation of the Raisen Institute. The banner is the longest in Exflora and is usually displayed vertically on the walls of Raisen.
The new recruits sign an 8-year contract to begin service in the "Guards of The Protectorate of Raisen". If they choose to do a 2nd 8-year term they will often choose to transfer to the "First Guards of Raisen" where they receive more specialized training and reach a higher status within society. Noone with less than 8 years of service would usually serve in the First Guards. This is often to ensure their loyalty to Raisen is ensured and to encourage longer service with greater rewards.
There are currently about 900 "First Guards of Raisen" and several thousand "Guards of The Protectorate of Raisen".
