Kadesh: City of Jewels - Season 1 Ep. 9 Session 9
General Summary
After trying to rack their brains around the book they had found in the Chapel and the cryptic puzzle it left them with, Arsenius, Eirkoris, and Soyokaze decided to focus on other matters. Since they couldn't figure out this riddle, they decided they would come back to it. Reverend Thund told them that he would keep the book for now, and that maybe after they did some more research into it, he would let them have it. As they were about to leave the chapel, they heard something downstairs. Rushing down, they found nothing. Suddenly, the wall above the lectern and podium burst into flames. Although the wall was made of stone, the flames stuck and formed a symbol, the same symbol they had seen on the dead body a few days prior. A just like that, the fire faded. Thund told them to be careful tonight, and they told him the same thing. They noticed he looked very worried after seeing that symbol, but they didn't press him further.
They returned to the Slutty Ducky, but couldn't help but feel as though they were being watched. Once they got in, they told Kevalan about how they couldn't find his book, but found a different one. Kevalan said that maybe that was the one he was told about and to focus on figuring out the riddle. He asked that they bring him the book, and seemed a bit disappointed when they told him Thund was keeping it for now. With that they went to bed. In the morning, deciding they needed a change of pace, they journeyed down to the Cove to see what Carolina needed help with. When they arrived, Caro and Kip greeted them and after Soyokaze introduced himself to Kip and Brawn, they got to business. Kip told them that gunpowder is being delivered from the Blockade to Vok-Nix Volcano. These have been going on everyday now for a while, and Kip wants to capture one. He wouldn't divulge his plan just yet, but he promised everyone it would be worth it. The trio, along with Caro and Kip, planned out the best route and area to capture and eventually settle on a plan. The party was to infiltrate a checkpoint with Caro, Brawn, and some of her crew, take it over, and capture the gunpowder once it arrived. And that is exactly how it happened, until Kamagishi showed up.
As they were winning, Soyokaze heard the sound of hooves. He turned to see and man, dressed in samurai armor, charging him on a horse. However, the horse slowed and the man dismounted. He was accompanied by another man. He introduced himself as General Kamagishi and the other man as Commander Carius. Carius rushed passed to aid the other guards who were fighting Caro, Arsenius, Eirkoris, Brawn, and Caro's crewmates. Kamagishi, however, stayed and challenged Soyokaze to an honorable duel. They fought, and although Kamagishi won, he spared Soyokaze, told Carius and the rest of the Empire guards to stand down, and they commanded them to leave as he did the same. Taking a minute to process what had happened, Eirkoris and Arsenius rushed over to help Soyokaze up as Carolina told Brawn to being carrying the carriage of gunpowder back, as the horses had been killed.
Once back at the Rose Quarters, Caro thanked the trio and took them to Salty's Tavern. There, they drank, played darts and arm wrestled, and listened to one of the patrons tales at sea. While they enjoyed themselves, Carolina discussed plans with other captains and Kip. In the morning, the trio would be filled in on the plan.
