Ghoul

A ghoul is an unusual monster in that it began as an animal and became human, rather like a wolfwere. The ghoul is a creature which is found in uninhabited places, ruins, graveyards, old abandoned buildings, etc., where they can use their powers to waylay solitary mortals and eat them. A ghoul's senses allow it to hear very far in silence, and see very far in daylight, so they prefer to hunt in the daylight in abandoned places. Their strangest power is the ability to render anyone lost, so they wander to the lair of the ghoul. The ghoul can further trick and bedevil by changing its shape, taking on the form of any small animal, or even the form of the human they last devoured. Ghouls often attack in groups, and can convert other small animals into ghouls like themselves. The ghoul's preferred shape is that of a hyena. Despite their humble origins, many ghoul are sentient and cunning.
