The Edge of the World
The most inhospitable of inhospitable places, the edge of the world has no other name, and its only visitors are considered the strangest and most daring of idiots.
Geography
Aboveground, the edge of the world looks plain, nothing more than a plain edge off which waters pour endlessly. This stretches until you reach the landmass of the Keisrin mountains, which prevents everyone from passing to the other side of Ezoeran. Under the basic surface of the endless waterfalls, the waters are white with turbulence, and the seafloor mainly consists of colorful, jagged crystals so crowded, it's impossible to tell if the entire ground is made up of them, or simply embedded into a simpler rock foundation.
Fauna & Flora
It is nearly impossible for anything to live in the turbulent waters of the edge of the world, and as such, there is no sign of greenery on the crystal edges. There are, however, two types of species that manage to live in these dangerous waters, where the danger of being swept away is ever-present. The first is a large species of what appear to be crabs with pure white shells. All eight of their legs have pincer-like edges used to grab onto the crystals of the floor. The second is a species of very tiny molluscs that hide in the crevices between the crystals. Both live off of the microscopic sea creatures constantly being swept from the main ocean over the edge.
Natural Resources
While incredibly difficult to obtain, the crystals that make up the edge of the world are considered jewels of the greatest quality. They come in many colors and are impossible to erode. They can only be cut and refined by metal blades coated by an acidic tincture made from the petals of a highly poisonous flower. Due to their rarity, they are exceptionally expensive, but many who have attempted to harvest them, including mers willing to trade with the humans, have lost their lives doing so.
