Myciena Collective

The Myciena Collective is an ancient society and founders of the city of Seles. The elves of the Myciena Collective were governed by a council of nine mages and were the foremost spellcasters of Ezora. They built towering structures and through their command of the arcane, turning Seles into a shining jewel of a city on the continent. Prior to the Severance, the Myciena Collective was the most powerful of the city-states on the continent and were earnest scholars with representatives of the Collective spread across every society in Ezora.   The Severance changed everything, however. The Arcane Council pushed the boundaries of the arcane, greedily drawing upon the innate magic of Ezora to a breaking point. In a tragic and cataclysmic event, the continent's connection to magic was ended as the Myciena Collective drew too greedily from the magics of the world. The other nations of Ezora united and rose up against the Myciena Collective, beginning the Arcanum Wars which lasted for eleven years. The Myciena Collective fought the newly formed Rusa Dynasty, utilizing the arcane energies they drew from the world. They found many victories but as their magic reserves began to wane, the Rusan Dynasty pushed them back further and further. By the end of the conflict, Seles was taken by the Rusans and the remaining members of the Myciena Collective fled across the water to the continent of Patun.   In a last effort to doom the people of Ezora (or to save themselves), the Myciena Collective cast powerful enchantments that cursed the ocean waters to forever churn violently, preventing ships from crossing from the continent. The Myciena Collective's influence over the continent has remained despite their physical absence. A distrust of the arcane and of elves remains in the hearts of the Rusan peoples. Many fear a return of the Myciena Collective is related to the Coalescence.
