Blyth Priory

The Benedictine priory of St Mary at Blyth was founded 1088 CE by Roger de Busli, lord of the Honour of Tickhill. Under Roger's foundation charter, the priory of Blyth is chosen by the Abbot of Holy Trinity in Rouen, Normandy, which was close to Roger's home manor of Busli, and to which Roger granted to the tithes of Busli c. 1060 CE.   Roger granted Blyth Priory the church and town of Blyth, with all appurtenances, and the tolls along the road between the rivers of Ryton and Thorne.   As of 1188 CE the Prior of Blyth is Robert de Pauliaco.   Source:
